About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be an Assistant Category Manager (ACM) for Beer within BWS, one of the largest and high profile categories across Endeavour Group.

This category will increase your visibility across the organisation, challenging you with the opportunity to enhance your negotiation skills and utilise your promotional planning experience.

As an Assistant Category Manager, you'll partner with the broader category team and contribute to the execution of the category strategy, with a key focus on maximizing the beer portfolio's commercial performance through a strong trade and customer plan.


You'll work closely with a number of key internal and external stakeholders across the industry, from BWS store teams to our global supply partners.

No one day is the same You'll build and manage supplier relationships end to end and will use your strong knowledge of the category and understanding of competitors, brands, consumer &
shopper trends to create customer-centric promotional strategies to drive sustainable growth.

Reporting to the Category Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • End to end promotional planning rhythm by partnering with relevant suppliers and internal teams to execute promotions that deliver upon strategic category objectives.
  • Negotiate commercials with suppliers for promotions and marketing funding.
  • Execute these promotions by providing exceptional support to our store teams in delivering worldclass promotional execution and ensuring that issues are addressed and queries resolved in a timely manner.
  • Utilise available data to regularly review performance with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage sales and profit improvement through executing strategic category initiatives and promotional effectiveness.
  • Prepare and brief major category campaigns, along with key supplier funded activities.
  • Utilise analytical skills and understanding of customer insights to make informed decisions.

About You
We're looking for an experienced Assistant Category Manager, looking to take the next step in their career.

You'll bring to the role strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships.

Having strong numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills, as well as proven experience in retail buying, marketing, or business development, will take you far.


You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous buying / ACM experience in FMCG/Retail environment.
  • Proven experience in planning a strong, customer focussed, promotional program to maximize the commercial performance.
  • A track record in using customer insights and data to make strategic and commercial business decisions.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including numerical and analytical skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to negotiate and influence both internal & external stakeholders.
  • Passion for and demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across all levels.
  • Ability to work crossfunctionality, under pressure, and thrive in a fastpaced environment.
  • A customercentric attitude and a passion for the liquor industry.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; knowledge of SAP highly regarded.
  • Degree or equivalent qualifications in business will be highly regarded.
