Education

  • University of Tasmania | Tasmania
Ph.D. in Maritime Engineering and Hydrodynamics
    2017
Thesis: 'Performance and Survivability of Offshore Oscillating Water Column Wave Energy Converters.'
In this research, I utilised a combined physical and numerical approach to investigate the hydrodynamics of offshore fixed and floating wave energy converters. The findings of this research would help the industry understand the performance and the risk associated with deploying such devices in deep water where waves are more energetic.
Award: The prestigious Rob Lewis medal for excellence in postgraduate research.

  • Alexandria University | Egypt
Master of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
    2013
Thesis: 'Analysis and Design Reliability of Novel Stiffened Double Hull Tanker Plates Designed by IACS–CSR under Axial Compression Loads.'
In this research, I investigated and identified the worst failure mode(s) of tanker ships’ stiffened panels supported by conventional stiffener profiles. In addition, I proposed solutions to improve ship structural integrity, whilst simultaneously considering structural degradation due to corrosion. I modified the profile of the longitudinal stiffeners in deck and bottom structures of oil tankers to increase the ultimate strength and reduce panels’ weight; hence increasing safety index to weight ratio.

  • Alexandria University | Egypt
Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
    2009
Class Valedictorian (first of the class), with a graduation grade of 'Excellent' (92%).
Awards: Recognition certificates from the faculty of engineering, Alexandria university, for placing first in the naval architecture and marine engineering department (2006-2009), and Professor "Okeil" awards for highest cumulative grade in fourth years in the naval architecture and marine engineering department, highest grade in ship design course and best summer internship report.
