As the Global Health Manager, you will join our EHS Centre of Excellence to actively manage current and future risks to protect the health and well-being of not only our Alcoa employees, but also the broader communities in which we operate.


Your key priorities will include leading the global health and well-being strategy, provision of technical direction across all locations, and advice in the fields of occupational health, disease management, workplace well-being and community health.


Key responsibilities include:

  • The development of and delivery of key strategic and technical direction, and advice in the field of Occupational Health and wellbeing.
  • Lead key critical programs across the health portfolio globally including the accountability for driving results though monitoring, improving and the provision of governance health standards and programs across occupational health, fatigue management, medical services and medical response, good work design, wellbeing, community health, pandemic response and other considerations as they occur.
  • Accountability for the provision of global standards, systems and tools for the effective implementation and utilisation of the above programs.
  • Provide key health metrics, identifying meaningful trends and subsequent recommendations for improvement.
  • Governance of medical reporting and recording keeping, improving the process and standards as required.
  • Provision of best practice excellence in being able to identify and share lessons from incidents, identify and share external learnings as relevant.
  • Coach and advise senior leaders, Operations Managers, and health professionals, and medical/health service providers.
  • Conduct regular site visits across global operations with a focus on operational excellence transferability.
  • Facilitate health working groups and communities of practice to identify and implement health improvements, share leading practice, reduce duplicate activity, and build technical capability across all locations.

What you can bring to the role:
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Extensive experience in occupational health centric roles in both operations and corporate environments ideally in a global or multi-site leadership position.
  • A background of working within the resources industry ideally with experience of mining, processing, and/or refining operations.
  • Experience in taking a system view and with an ability to identify emerging risks in a timely manner.
  • A strong inclusive leader who is able to motivate, energize, coach, and inspire the team to exceed objectives, innovate, and deliver zero harm and positive wellbeing to all employees.
  • Ability to navigate, influence and collaborate across functions globally, and at all organizational levels.
  • Strategic thinker and creative problem solver with the ability to cut through ambiguity and uncertainty and develop practical strategies by embracing ideas and input from team members and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and execute change management on a global scale.
