About the Role:


This newly created role will report to the Regional Health & Safety Director and will provide strategic and tactical level leadership, direction and governance in regard to operational safety direction and compliance for the Australian operations, including managing the relationship with regulatory authorities.


The role will be instrumental in working with key internal and external stakeholders across the Australian operations and regulatory authorities to build, maintain, and enhance operational safety.

You will be required to work closely with the senior management, including the operational leadership at each location and external regulatory authorities to develop and implement systems that ensure the management of risks, and compliance with internal and external operational safety requirements.

The primary purpose of this role is to two-fold;

  • To provide consistent and coordinated leadership and management for Australian operations regarding development, deployment and compliance to operational safety management systems and processes including dangerous goods and rail safety.
  • Secondly to provide an effective single point of accountability in managing the requirements, interface and relationship between Australian operations and external Regulatory Authorities, DMIRS and ONSRS.


Whilst this opportunity is based in Booragoon, you will enjoy the flexibility to mix your days between the office, home and travel to our Western Australian locations based across Kwinana and the Peel Region to connect with our operational sites.

What you can bring to the role:
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or safety is essential
  • Experienced in working in a safety leadership position within the Mining or Manufacturing industry is essential.
  • Expertise in safety legislation and compliance experience in Western Australia is essential.
  • Process safety experience working in/with Dangerous Goods, Major Hazard Facility, Chemical Processing, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian codes and standards as well as the applicable statutory requirements.
  • Experience in developing organisational level strategies/frameworks and roadmaps.
  • Operational safety management experience directly related to Rail Infrastructure, Registered and Selected Non-Registered Plant (Boilers, Pressure Vessels, Cranes, Elevators, Mobile Equipment and Tanks etc) would be advantageous.
