About You

While experience is not necessary in this role, an interest in patient care is essential to succeed in this role.

You will have excellent communication skills and a willingness to develop a working knowledge of hospital procedures. You will be a motivated, positive individual and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail. Willingness to learn and to be trained as a hospital orderly.


You will also possess:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effective within a team environment and independently
  • Moderate to high level of physical fitness
  • Excellent patient and customer service focus
  • Be available for a range of shifts across a 7 day rotating roster

About the Opportunity
Perioperative Services Department at Bowral and District Hospital, is dedicated to the delivery of outstanding patient care.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual with a strong customer focus to fill the role of Operations Assistant (Perioperative).

As an orderly, you will be working in the theatre, recovery and day surgery departments as an integral member of the periop team.


Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Working with and assisting clinical staff;
  • Cleaning and waste removal;
  • Ensuring theatres are set up for surgical procedures and equipment has been checked;
  • Transporting patients between wards;

What You'll be Doing
Safe transportation of patients to and from theatre as well as the cleanliness of theatres.


All staff are expected to take reasonable care that their actions do not adversely affect the health and safety of others, that they comply with any reasonable instruction that is given them and with any reasonable policies/procedures relating to health or safety in the workplace, as well as notifying any hazards/risks or incidents to their managers.
