Permanent full-time role, located in Bassendean


UGL's Heavy Maintenance Facility based in Bassendean, are searching for a high performing
Section Leader / Workshop Leading Hand to join their Locomotive & Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) component overhaul team.

This position will be offered as a permanent full-time opportunity with occasional overtime & weekend work as required.

Reporting to the _Service Delivery Manage_r, the purpose of this role is to provide leadership and manage the daily production requirements of a workshop section, to exceed UGL and the customers' expectations of safety, quality and deliveries.

The role has future career pathways into Production and Workshop Management.


About your role


As the
Section Leader / Workshop Leading Hand, you will be required to provide front line leadership to the production facility and the team, ensuring safe work practices and procedures are adhered to.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Assess risks and hazards involved in tasks, and methods to manage the hazards in order to prevent incidents, injury and damage
  • Develop and allocate production delivery plans and resources
  • Conduct high quality planned and corrective maintenance, repair and/or service
  • Develop documentation specific for work package (NCRs, EAR and Completion reports, SWMS, ITP's, high risk permits) and maintain registers
  • Attend/conduct site meetings, toolbox/prestart meetings and progress meetings
Interpret technical specifications, manuals and drawings


About you
You will have extensive experience working in a similar leadership role, within a heavy industrial or workshop environment.


Skills & Experience:


  • Relevant Trade Qualification (
    Electrical preferred)
  • Demonstrated Supervisory experience (essential)
  • Supportive attitude regarding health, safety & quality
  • Pride and high standards for maintenance in a workshop environment
  • Strong communication skills & willingness to learn, teach & mentor others
  • Solid rotating electrical equipment knowledge & thinking
