About Us

The Investment and Technology Group delivers strategic oversight and management of DTP's operating and infrastructure budget and provides commercial and information technology services to drive high performance and improved commercial outcomes for the State.

Investment Strategy within the Portfolio Management Office is responsible for ensuring the effective allocation of resources across transport projects and initiatives.

This involves collaboration across the department to ensure resourcing implications are considered during policy, planning and development phases and that there is a robust investment strategy to inform future funding advice and decision making.

About the Role

Leading a small team, you will provide authoritative, articulate, and strategic advice on investment strategy to Ministers and the department executives, to support decision-making on budget funding priorities and options.

You will maintain a short-medium term view of the department's priorities for funding through the State budget, advise on the timing, sequencing and packaging of investment decisions, and develop robust strategies for securing required funding and resolving risks and issues.

You will also provide guidance and advice to support the development of robust business cases for proposed investments. Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and direct the provision of authoritative, technical and strategic analysis and advice to relevant Ministers, the Secretary and senior executives on short to medium term transport budget and investment strategies.
  • Oversee and provide objective expert guidance on contentious issues and negotiate agreed pathways to facilitate the production of robust and widelysupported investment advice.
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with stakeholders within the department and its agencies, Ministers' offices and central agencies in order to manage risks and resolve issues.
