The Role
Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Group has exciting opportunities available. We are seeking to fill multiple Program Manager roles within the Capability Development Division (CDD).

The Program Manager will support the project teams in the planning, development, and design of critical GWEO business cases, with the opportunity for autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.

You will be accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex activities within an integrated workforce while maintaining a well-developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy and procedure requirements.

The role will provide detailed professional advice and contribute to strategic planning, programming, project management and policy development.

The role requires highly developed program, project, contract and financial management skills, and it will be highly desirable to have experience in the construction industry.

The role will also require the supervision and mentoring of more junior staff as a member of a small team.


About our Team
GWEO CDD is responsible for the design and development of a domestic GWEO manufacturing capability.

This includes sponsoring projects and investment options to Government approval; conducting cost, benefit and risk analysis to achieve a balanced and coordinated portfolio of investments; developing a GWEO Manufacturing Master Plan; and developing a Research and Development Roadmap and Project Management Plan.


CDD is also responsible for the ADF GWEO Roadmap, identifying options to uplift critical enablers to including in Test and Evaluation, Storage and Distribution, Education and Training, and Disposal and Demilitarisation.

A critical part of CDD's work is setting the strategy for the GWEO Enterprise, ensuring alignment to Defence and Government objectives and coordinating strategy and plans across the Group.

It is responsible for policy and governance frameworks, international engagement and management of the GWEO Enterprise Program.

In your new role you will assist in completion of project outcomes and functions within your team to:


  • Coordinate, prepare, and develop timely and high quality agendum, issues papers and minutes for capability committees.
  • Design and recommend solutions contributing to the desired outcomes, working collaboratively within timeframes.
  • Coordinate tasks and assist in the preparation of submissions, briefs, and correspondence.
