The Role
The APS 4 Registry Officer presents a unique opportunity to work in a 3 Star Headquarters.

Supporting Headquarters Joint Capabilities Group (HQJCG) and Office of Chief of Joint Capabilities (OCJC) and Office of Deputy Chief of Joint Capabilities (ODCJC), you will work as part of a dynamic integrated workforce, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.


The APS 4 Registry Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex information and records management work.

The Registry Officer is responsible under limited direction for receipt, allocation, tracking, action and dispatch of official correspondence. The successful applicant requires a good understanding of and the ability to interpret and comply with relevant legislative frameworks.


The role is responsible for managing document workflows, HQJCG group mailbox's and acts to progress work to meet business objectives and timelines.

The Registry Officer is responsible to make decisions within their scope of practice relating to their area of responsibility, and will seek guidance on more complex issues when required.


About our Team

Headquarters JCG (HQJCG) provides high-level support to the Group Head, CJC, and the Deputy Head, DCJC, by directing and coordinating Group operations across a range of functions.

HQJCG works closely with the Divisions and Commands within JCG and with the other Groups and Services within Defence to contribute to JCG and Defence-wide outcomes.


The Registry and Coordination team works closely with other HQJCG teams and the broader JCG Commands, Divisions and Elements (CDE).

Reporting to the APS6 Coordination Manager, the team is responsible for providing administrative coordination and support for CJC and DCJC.


The HQJCG team currently comprises the Offices of CJC and DCJC, Ministerial and Parliamentary Directorate, Governance Directorate, Workforce and Culture Directorate, Media and Communications, Web Management and Legal Support.

The role requires an ability to work primarily from our Russell ACT office. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements around this requirement.

  • Previous experience (preferred but not essential) in an Information and Records Management role.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of national legislation, General Records Authority, National Archives of Australia Disposal Embargoes and Freezes and (Defence policies preferred but not essential) in relation to record management.
  • Experience using a records management system such as Objective (Objective Work Group Coordinator preferred) and PDMS.
  • Must hold Baseline security clearance and be eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance.
