This is a maternity relief position and should the permanent incumbent require an early return from maternity leave, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks notice.   • With a deep understanding of the psychosocial challenges that accompany chronic and acute illness, you'll provide comprehensive assessments, crisis management, and brief interventions tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual and their support network. Your ability to adapt communication styles, work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, and prioritize competing demands will ensure the delivery of highquality care in a fastpaced environment.
  • From providing emotional support to facilitating smooth transitions through the healthcare system, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring patients and their families receive the support they need during difficult times. As part of our dedicated team, you'll have opportunities for professional development, service development, and collaboration with senior managers and colleagues.

About You

  • You will have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) (overseas qualifications must supply the AASW Overseas Assessment number). A demonstrated understanding of the current AASW Practice Standards as they relate to Inpatient Social Work.
  • You can maintain and prioritise a highintensity, varied and complex workload while working with clients who may be experiencing high levels of distress, anger and/or anxiety. Being able to manage exposure to traumatic issues such as domestic and family violence, child protection and viewing the deceased.
  • You can remain flexible, open and composed in difficult situations and maintaining respectful, professional relationships in an area where professional disagreement is to be expected.

Where you'll be working


The position is part of the Inpatient Social Work team based at Wyong Hospital that provides a professional social work service to patients and their family/carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes for patients consistent with CCLHD policies, procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.

This position will work alongside the multidisciplinary teams to deliver high quality care in a dynamic team environment.

  • The Social Worker is to provide assessment, crisis and brief intervention, counselling and case planning to assist patients/carers to deal with the emotional impact of illness, to facilitate smooth transitions through the hospital system and to access appropriate community services. The Social Worker will work with the multidisciplinary team, senior managers and other inpatient social workers to ensure the delivery of effective and proactive social work services and psychosocial care.
  • The Social Worker is expected to be proactive in the areas of service development, service evaluation and multidisciplinary staff and student teaching. Inpatient Social Work positions within CCLHD may be required to work rostered weekends and public holidays at
- the request of the service manager. This position may also include working at acute sites throughout the CCLHD dependent on the needs of the service and is required to participate in an On Call Social Work Service.
