The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness.
We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

About the role
PRAP, the Private Rental Assistance Program, is a preventative intervention that provides holistic support to households experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
PRAP Plus is a new initiative, a support program addressing the need for increased support for some households accessing private rental.
PRAP Plus is an outreach intervention for households living in or entering private rental tenancies that require additional practical support to establish or maintain their housing.
You will successfully- Attend prevacating inspections, addressing issues to prevent blacklisting on TICA (tenancy database).
- Attend the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal in support of tenants.
- Develop & maintain strong relationships with real estate agencies and bodies, as well as landlords, to support early intervention and prevention of homelessness.
- Attend inspections with clients, role modelling communication and presentation at inspections.
- Develop, oversight, coordination and implementation of support plan with the client to address issues that are causing or have the potential to cause tenancy breakdown
- Assist the client to liaise and negotiate with real estate agents, including understanding rental ledgers and reporting maintenance.
- Develop relationships with 'first to know' agencies, using existing relationships with local real estate agents, emergency relief workers, financial counsellors and other support services to identify 'at risk' private rental tenancies
- Attend prevacating inspections, addressing issues to prevent blacklisting on TICA (tenancy database).
- Brokerage documentation and administration is a key area of responsibility for this position.
The following are high priority administrative tasks:
- Brokerage use is closely monitored for compliance with guidelines as well as achieving good client outcomes
You will have
- Working understanding of and experience in a human services environment
- Client outreach experience demonstrating sound risk management practices and case management delivery is essential
- Working knowledge of the _Residential Tenancies Act 1997 _is essential to the role.
- Diploma or above tertiary qualification in a relevant social work or human services field
- A national police record check, international check in some circumstances
- A current and valid VIC Working with Children Check
- A current and valid Victorian Drivers licence
