The Way Funky Company an Australian swimwear and fitness company that produces the labels FUNKY TRUNKS and FUNKITA has a fantastic opportunity for a casual retail assistant in our retail shop at HBF Stadium in Mount Claremont.

We are looking for someone with a positive, proactive and dedicated personality who loves interacting with people, and loves sport and our brands.


You must understand the importance of providing a high level of customer service to customers and presenting a clean and tidy, well managed store every day.

You will run the store by yourself and there will be busy events that will require you to work with other staff, including on weekends.

You will be expected to reach the standards of the company and you will communicate with Head Office regularly, to ensure stock levels are maintained and all systems are running accurately and effectively.


Key responsibilities of the position:


This is an important role to our business, being the first point of contact for customers at HBF Stadium who are visiting our retail store.

You must have a willingness to help wherever needed but in this busy role, your key responsibilities will include:


Welcome and greet customers to the company's HBF Stadium retail store and answer all phone query directed to the store.

Listen and ascertain the customers' needs for the company's products to recommend and display items that match customer needs.


Assist in the display of visual merchandise including maintaining the store's exceptional appearance by hanging, folding, tidying stock and clearing any rubbish away.

Assist in maintaining a fully stocked store and perform all point-of-sale processes.


Continually develop product knowledge especially prior to the release of a new range to accurately describe product features and benefits to customers.

Processing in-store customer returns and find alternative products that may meet the customer's needs.

Proficient in company systems and EFTPOS machine to manage customer sales, refunds, order history and checking inventory.


To be considered for this exciting role you will need to have:
Experience working within a customer-facing retail store environment.


Proficient in verbal and written English language with exceptional customer, communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to relate to staff and customers at all levels.

Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise

Skills in systems with fast and accurate keyboard skills.

Strong work ethic, high attention to detail and accuracy and team oriented work ethic.

Well-developed organisational skills, ability to work well under pressure and prioritise your workload.

A friendly and cheerful demeanour combined with an ongoing goal to excel in retail and customer service.

Available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends

Keen interest in swimming and the swimwear labels is desirable but not essential.

This position involves moving, reaching, carrying boxes and standing and may involve stooping, kneeling, crouching climbing ladders.


Hours of work:

This is a casual position - Friday and Saturday with occasional additional hours at events during the weekend.

Job applicants must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia
