Transport Modeller, Clerk Grade 9/10

  • Ongoing, full time role working 35 hours per week
  • Clerk Grade 9/10 ($120,859 $133,183) plus super and annual leave loading
  • Location and work arrangement: 2 days in the office; one day at 4PSQ and the other at 4PSQ or Sydney plus WFH options.

About the Agency
The NSW Reconstruction Authority is a statutory corporation within the Planning & Environment cluster. The Authority will improve how NSW plans for disasters and ensure that we recover from them faster.


To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the NSW Reconstruction Authority will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, businesses and government.

When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities and other stakeholders.


About the role


As the Transport Modeller, you will be responsible for the acquisition, quality assurance, analysis, interpretation, manipulation and dissemination of spatial and operational data in order to provide trusted data services supporting business and customer outcomes.

You will collaborate with various stakeholders to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery or flood evacuation products and manage the delivery or the Hawkesbury-Nepean Valley Flood Evacuation Model.


About you
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Knowledge and experience in transport modelling with expertise in MATSim
  • Demonstrated experience in program and project management.
  • Drive and motivation to keep up to date with relevant practices, methodologies and policies.
  • The ability to coordinate across programs to achieve outcomes.
  • Strong collaboration and written and verbal communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders
  • High level attention to detail and accuracy.
  • An understanding of government processes and experience preparing briefing materials.
  • Experience in data analysis and interpreting data to work towards best practice solutions.
  • Expertise to review modelling results and reports
  • Competence using other traffic modelling software and approaches (strategic modelling, agentbased modelling, SIDRA, pedestrian simulation, etc)
  • Strong knowledge of standards, guidelines, current trends and legislation

The following skills are highly desirable:

  • Experience with transport modelling (5 years)
  • Experience with large scale network modelling and analysis, land use studies, evacuation modelling, concept and detailed designs, traffic impact assessment and public transport planning
