We are seeking an experienced Social Worker (Level 1-2) for 24 hrs per week (Parental Leave relief up until February 2024 with possibility of extension) Relocating to Campbelltown mid 2023

OPERATIONAL BASE:
Residential Unit Carramar (relocating to Campbelltown mid 2023)

RESPONSIBLE TO:
The Director of Clinical Services through the Residential Unit Nursing Unit Manager


Purpose

Karitane staff provide safe, effective, quality care consistent with the organisation's mission, philosophy, values and standards of care, and adhere to the Professional Code of Conduct.


The role of the Social Worker in this tertiary service is to provide a comprehensive clinical assessment to clients accessing the Residential Unit.

These services include one to one counselling, crisis intervention, couple counselling, group work, complex family work, mental health management, early intervention and follow-up with community referral services.

Overall client care is administered in consultation with the Unit Manager and Manager Mental Health around complex families, mental health and early intervention.


Experience and understanding of Perinatal Mental Health and the impacts that this can have on parenting is essential in this role.


  • Tertiary qualifications in social work with eligibility for full membership to the AASW.
  • Demonstrated effective communication, assessment and counselling skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with families with young children who are experiencing mental health issues and psychosocial stresses.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of perinatal mental health, domestic violence, child protection and realities of parenting.
  • High level of experience in developing and facilitating groups.
  • Demonstrated understanding of CALD related parenting issues.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Current driver's licence

Conditions of Employment
Shift times and days may be varied according to the needs of the organisation. Karitane services are provided at a number of sites within the Sydney Metropolitan Area.
