Purpose / Objective
To coordinate, schedule and provide support at ASC's Community Lunches at Auburn Centre for Community
Reports to:
Community Participation Lead
Commitment Period:
Minimum of 3 months
Days and hours required per week:
Mondays 11.00am - 3.00pm
AND / OR
Wednesdays 11.00am - 3.00pm
Duties & Responsibilities
- Schedule groups of lunch volunteers to serve hot meals to ASC community members at Auburn Centre for Community.
- Warmly welcome lunch volunteers when they arrive at the Auburn Centre and orientate them to the kitchen, providing instructions for safe use of equipment/appliances.
- Brief lunch volunteers on the purpose of ASC Community Lunches and provide tips about how to best communicate with the people that ASC supports.
- Support lunch volunteers to prepare, deliver, serve and store food safely.
- Support lunch groups as required and warmly welcome community members who attend the community lunch.
- Ensure that lunch volunteers leave the kitchen clean and tidy and pack up any leftovers into takeaway containers, clearly marking them.
- Send followup surveys to lunch volunteers after they have completed their lunch shift.
- Complete an attendance survey and other records as required for ASC reporting cycles
- Ensure the relevant team of lunch volunteers are available and ready for the next shift.
- Respond to questions from lunch volunteers within the delegations of this role.
- Report any incidents to Line Manager, and/or Centrebased staff as appropriate.
- Other, as reasonably requested by the Line Manager.
Selection Criteria
- Experience in working with people from various backgrounds and cultures.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead a group of lunch volunteers, providing support and guidance as needed.
- Ability to adhere to policies in relation to code of conduct, boundaries and confidentiality.
- Food Safety certificates or qualifications will be considered favourably.

- Support a childsafe organisation by undertaking screening for suitability to work with children and vulnerable people and to comply with relevant state/territory legislative requirements
- Have received two doses of the COVID19 vaccination.
