Correspondence and Departmental Liaison Manager, temporary 12 months with possible extension to ongoing.

Flexible working model - balancing your preferred way of working with business needs.**This is an exciting opportunity to work in our Office of the Secretary (OSEC) in the Department of Customer Service (DCS) and join our Cabinet and Parliamentary Services Team.


You will have the opportunity to lead a multi-disciplinary team in an agile, dynamic, and collaborative environment, where you can innovate, add value, and make a positive impact.

This role leads a fast-paced and dynamic team in the heart of the OSEC within DCS.

This is a newly created role, and we are looking for a Manager with a focus on correspondence and departmental liaison who will contribute to delivering strategic Departmental and Ministerial outcomes and inspire our team.

This is a 12-month role with a potential for it to become an ongoing role.

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Be part of a team providing high level advice and support to Senior Executives, Secretary and the Ministers.
  • Ensure delivery of highquality coordination, analysis and advice to the Ministers' Office.
  • Establish and deliver the DCS Departmental Liaison Officer Program.
  • Coordinate the DCS Departmental Liaison Officer cohort and design long term solutions for wellbeing and development.
  • Help train departmental staff in understanding the Correspondence context and processes.
  • Guide and mentor others in the team, help to ensure a strongly cohesive and collaborative team culture.

About you:


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide accurate, clear and comprehensive advice in short time frames.
  • The ability to build, develop and maintain professional relationships maintaining relevant network of connections.
  • Proven record of leading, liaising and consulting with stakeholders on complex and sensitive issues, including with Ministerial Offices and Senior Executives.
  • Ability to lead a team to think strategically and implement practical solutions to complex matters.
  • Passionate about developing positive relationships and maintaining strong networks
  • High attention to detail, welldeveloped organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a highpressure, highvolume environment with tight deadlines to manage rapidly changing priorities and conflicting perspectives.
  • Passion, enthusiasm, resilience, and energy to thrive in an agile and adaptive environment.
  • A solid understanding of how government works or experience interpreting/implementing policies that support Government agencies.
  • Ideally, experience with Ministerial Services or as a Departmental Liaison Officer.
