Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Research Services Manager to join Office of Research Services, Research Portfolio, Academic Division.

The Research Services Manager role sits in the Research Grants Pillar (RGP) in the Office of Research Services.

This team provides client service-oriented support to the QUT community in relation to domestic and international competitive research grants and fellowships The Research Services Manager plays a key role within the RGP by coordinating initiatives and activities associated with research grant funding schemes and the supervision of Senior Research Services Officers.

Office of Research Services (ORS) works with QUT staff, students, collaborators, and partners to identify, attract and manage funding from competitive and commercial sources.


What you need to succeed

  • Education, training and/or experience equivalent to the completion of postgraduate qualifications with at least six (6) years' experience in research administration, particularly preaward research grant administration, at scale, in a university research office or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the current research funding environment, national policies, and funding issues relating to research grants administration, including evidence of skills required to read and interpret large and complex policy documents.
  • Evidence of highly developed written communication skills to effectively communicate with clients at all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated high level oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to effectively consult with clients on a range of matters in a professional and confident manner.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills with a proven ability to motivate and develop staff to achieve positive client service and work area outcomes in the context of competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines working autonomously whilst maintaining good working relationships within a team setting.
