Please note:

Due to Machinery of Government changes under Section 30 of the Public Administration Act (PAA), effective 1 January 2023, your employment will be with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action.

Corporate Services, including payroll, will be provided by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions while a process for the formal transfer of staff in impacted areas is implemented.

The Drill Core Library is a facility used for the storage and inspection of rock specimens.

These specimens are derived from minerals and extractives drill holes, and petroleum exploration and development wells from both onshore and offshore Victoria.

Rock specimens are also collected from GSV's geoscientific mapping projects undertaken across the state.

This collection of specimens provides invaluable information to support earth resources investment, applied geoscience research and informed decision making by government and industry.

The Technical Officer is responsible for assisting in the management of the Geological Survey of Victoria (GSV) Core Library at Werribee.

This is done by undertaking data entry and maintenance of integrity of a number of databases and catalogues, as well as assisting the Drill Core Library to deliver various services to external clients and visitors.

The Technical Officer will provide technical and logístical support for scientific and technical staff and visitors by ensuring a safe and secure work environment including operating forklifts and transfer equipment, core saws and other equipment.

To be a success in the role, you will have demonstrated modern functional warehouse experience and be skilled in delivery of health, safety and security functions to ensure a safe operating environment.

Your passion for providing outstanding customer service, coupled with your proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, will see you promptly respond to and accommodate requests as they arise.

You will be required to hold a current forklift license or be prepared to obtain it within six months of securing the position.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Werribee, with hybrid work arrangements available.
