Key Responsibilities
This role will work with other units in the Executive Services Branch to provide the highest quality support to the department and the offices of the Attorney-General and the Director-General by:

  • managing the proactive release process for the Department of Justice and Attorney-General
- working with DPC on the implementation of, and administrative processes associated with, the proactive release of Cabinet submissions to ensure that DJAG is compliant and meets all the statutory timeframes for release
- reviewing, redacting where appropriate, checking with authors and preparing Cabinet submissions for proactive release within the timeframes stipulated by DPC's proactive release policy (policy)
- critically reviewing DJAG's Cabinet forward timetable to identify in scope Cabinet submissions for proactive release and working with the policy areas to ensure that submissions are managed appropriately
- establishing and maintaining effective and constructive relationships with key stakeholders, including the offices of the Attorney-General, Director-General, DJAG, DPC and other government departments to achieve the expected strategic outcomes in relation to proactive release
- coordinating and providing timely, independent, strategic and operational advice to internal DJAG stakeholders on the proactive release of Cabinet submissions
- obtaining expert advice and maintaining relationships with key areas of the DJAG to ensure the timely resolution of policy and procedural matters
- providing high level advice, training and information materials to officers tasked with writing Cabinet submissions so that they are aware of, and fully across, the proactive release requirements of their submission
- representing DJAG at meetings, committees and interdepartmental working groups as DJAG's specialist on proactive release. working with the CLLO team to help manage the Attorney-General's Cabinet business. managing the secure storage, handling and dissemination of Cabinet submissions and decisions in compliance with DJAG guidelines.
