The Role:

***The Principal Business Coordinator is responsible for creating and maintaining an efficient, effective, and responsive liaison services between the Department for Trade and Investment and the Minister for Trade and Investment. This includes advice on sensitive policy matters, maintenance of key relationships and networks including ministerial offices, the delivery of high-level projects and the improvement of business processes and capabilities.

The Principal Business Coordinator is also responsible for:

  • Facilitating a collegiate, professional, and effective network amongst support staff for Executives and Directorates across the department with the aim of ensuring effective cooperation, coordination, and collaboration across the department
  • Assisting in managing operational issues and professional development opportunities
  • Planning, analysis, development and maintenance of departmental document and records management programs and services

About You:

***To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following key capabilities:
  • Demonstrate understanding of the machinery of government at the Cabinet, Ministerial, Parliamentary and departmental levels
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the role of a Ministerial Office and the relationship between a ministerial office and the department
  • Communicate clearly, concisely and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Proven ability to demonstrate strict confidentiality and to use diplomacy, discretion and tact, and skills to work with astuteness in a highly sensitive environment
  • Extensive experience at managing large workloads, cope with interruptions and change, consistently perform work of a high quality and maintain productivity under pressure.

Desirable Qualification:

***Tertiary qualifications including but not limited to communications, arts, economics, commerce, international business, law, public policy, business management and project management.


Special Conditions

  • Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.

Remuneration:

***ASO7 - $104,938 - $113,435
