The Role

The University of New South Wales Regiment (UNSWR) is looking for a high performing logistics manager to manage our small and dynamic logistics team.


The role will involve:

  • Engaging with the key unit stakeholders to provide advice on logistics issues that may impact training and Defence outcomes
  • Leading the mixed team of Defence and contractor personnel that manages day to day logistic activities for the unit
  • Managing Q-Store inventory via monitoring and stocktaking of inventory
  • Ensuring UNSWR's logistics system is compliant with relevant legislative frameworks and policy requirements.
  • Providing assistance, advice and support with the planning and conduct of unit training activities.
  • Representing UNSWR at logistics conferences and forming good working relationships with the logistics organisations we rely on to achieve directed training outcomes.
  • Managing logistics quality assurance activities and provide compliance advice.
  • Using appropriate computer systems for raising, amending or tracking inventory.

About our Team
UNSWR manages the largest throughput of Army Reserve trainees in the country.

We have a small logistics team, consisting of a mix of full time, part time and contract logistics operators.

The logistics team is an integral part of a larger central management team. Collectively we support each other and rely on each other's knowledge and strengths to achieve directed training outcomes.

To be successful in this role as the senior logistics member for the unit you will:

  • Have a keen eye for detail
  • Have good communication skills and be confident working with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Have a good understanding of Defence logistics processes, information systems and governance requirements
  • Be able to manage a small team of experienced logisticians
  • Be comfortable working in a fluid environment, by remaining flexible, agile and adaptable
  • Have a good level of computer literacy including with logistics stocktaking systems.
