The Role

This opportunity will see you:

  • Provide expert advice on strategic recruitment services, working closely with the workforce planning and workforce data teams;
  • Lead a team to initiate, develop and implement strategic recruitment services to project areas to deliver on outcomes;
  • Engage and consult with the Senior Executive, project leaders and other relevant stakeholders to improve recruitment targeting and capability;
  • Work closely with the Defence People Group (DPG) to ensure CASG strategies and approaches are complementary to department attraction and recruitment efforts and aligned to One Defence.

About our Team

The Strategic Recruitment and Onboarding Directorate is part of the Workforce Planning and Strategy Team that supports CASG by developing workforce solutions through data insights and strategic workforce projects.


Working in partnership across CASG and with DPG, the Strategic Recruitment and Onboarding team provides tailored recruitment services that align with labour market talent pool expectations, whilst advising business areas on market leading attraction and recruitment methods and processes.

The team offers CASG a high level of recruitment expertise and is forward-looking in its focus, as well as providing day to day support in resolving emerging operational issues.

The operating environment is diverse and varied, and a high level of consultation is required to identify and address stakeholder needs.

  • Strong understanding of modern talent attraction and recruitment challenges, including valid and reliable meritbased assessment methods;
  • Strong strategic thinking skills and ability to interpret market data to inform recruitment strategies;
  • Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to bring a customer service focus to the delivery of strategic recruitment functions;
  • Welldeveloped written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain recruitment concepts to a nonHR audience;
  • Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills to exercise sound judgment in consideration of immediate and longterm work priorities;
  • The ability to lead, mentor and develop others to build an effective, positive, and collaborative team, including prioritising and organising work to deliver on outcomes; and
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic, business focused environment and be able to work across functions and with different business areas to achieve results.
