About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage a case load of students with a wide range of complex disabilities including mental health, physical and neurological conditions
  • Participate in a range of student support projects to identify enhancements to existing practice to reflect diversity and inclusion bestpractice
  • Lead the administration of services for alternative exam arrangements related to AAPs, working within Student Equity and Disability Services and across other teams

Who we are looking for

We are seeking an empathetic and passionate Equity Lead who has demonstrated experience within the disability and equity field facilitating equitable student participation in tertiary education.

You will have strong attention to detail, and high-level organisational and task management skills with the ability to plan and prioritise tasks to meet competing deadlines.


You will also have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (completed), such as accredited social work degree with eligibility for membership of the AASW, disability, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience with a minimum of five years' experience and education/training ideally in the disability field and tertiary education sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in the disability and equity field, in the delivery of services facilitating equitable student participation in tertiary education
  • A high level of administrative skills including project management and excellent written and verbal communication skills with diverse stakeholders including administrative, academic staff and students and the maintenance of professional case notes, data reporting, and the reviewing and writing web content and the development of practice frameworks and service guidelines

The Student Equity and Disability Services (SEDS) is in the Wellbeing Services portfolio, which includes the University's Health Service, Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and the Chaplaincy service.

SEDS is responsible for providing educational adjustments for students with a disability or health condition, are carers of a person with a disability, are defence reservists or emergency volunteers or for cultural or religious observance which impact their ability to participate fully in their studies.
