Your New Role


As the Assistant Manager, Investigations at the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), you will be stepping into a pivotal position within the Professional Conduct Branch.

You will be working closely with the Investigations Manager, leading a dedicated team of investigators, and handling intricate investigations related to non-compliance with legislative requirements and the Victorian Teaching Profession's Code of Conduct and Ethics.

This role is not just about management; it's about leadership, strategic thinking, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children in the educational environment.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the management and leadership of VIT's investigative functions.
  • Supporting the Investigations Manager in leading a team of investigators.
  • Overseeing complex investigations concerning noncompliance with legislative requirements and professional codes.
  • Contributing to strategic projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Branch.
  • Handling sensitive matters, including allegations of child sexual abuse.

What You Need to Succeed
To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of contemporary and risk-based regulatory practices, especially in the context of professional regulation investigations.
  • Proven experience in delivering investigative functions in complex regulatory environments, including leading teams to success in highpressure environments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to establish a strong workplace culture, emphasizing behavioural norms.
  • Adherence to VIT behaviours and Victorian public sector values.
  • Qualifications or training in investigations, preferably an Advanced Diploma in Government Investigations.
