About the Role


The Digital and Information systems branch at SCC delivers agile and transformative information and technology, enabling council to be a leader in providing innovative and sustainable services to its communities.


It will be the responsibility of the Team Leader to ensure the team's human, physical and financial resources operate within the Branch/Unit's capacity.


Other key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Manager to positively manage change within the Unit
  • Ensuring management, users and colleagues are kept informed of trends and developments applied by the team
  • Contributing to Council's technology architecture authority as a member of the Architecture Working Group.
  • Ownership and continual improvement of team provided services; software development, enterprise integration and development standards and environments
  • Ensure bestpractice processes for our expanding API ecosystem, including guidelines for development and maintenance of APIs
  • Conduct regular security assessments and risk analysis to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities and work closely with our cyber security program
  • Developing a vibrant cohesive team delivering a seamless service to its stakeholders
  • Providing to the many Council locations a robust, fast and costeffective development and integration capability by managing the software development lifecycle of developed products
  • Ensure bestpractice processes are followed for product documentation, automated testing, auditing and release management
  • Lead technical discussions of new solutions and architectures.
  • Responsibility for the design / architecture of new services or enhancements to existing services.
  • Responsibility for the development and adherence to UX, UI, integration and development guidelines and principles.
  • Management of DevOps and operational support of development environments developed products and integration.
  • Being responsible for the Software Release process, including overseeing release execution throughout the project lifecycle
The role is currently based in
Maroochydore in the new Sunshine Coast City Hall.


About you
Together with energy, enthusiasm and commitment, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Strong software development fundamentals including version control, unit testing and code management practices
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with particular emphasis in the areas of building effective relationships, consultation, negotiation, conflict resolution and assertiveness
  • Extensive experience with the use of Agile development methodologies
  • Familiarity with industry security standards and best practices, such as OWASP Secure Coding Practices and ISO 2700
  • Experience with API gateway technologies
  • Experience with source control systems (git)
  • Experience working in Microsoft Azure, including resource usage and cost management
  • Significant experience with C# and.
NET - Experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET)

  • Demonstrated understanding of business systems lifecycle management, principles of quality management (assurance and control), and software development methodologies
  • Experience working with SQL Server databases (T-SQL)
