Volunteer Position:
Relief Administration Volunteer


Service Area:
Intensive Support


Purpose / Objective:
Provide support to the Project Management Coordinator and caseworkers in the allocation of relief funds.


Reports to:
Project Management Coordinator


Commitment Period:
Minimum 3 months (The role is ongoing)


Days and hours required per week:One day a week of your choice, 3-4 hours a week between 10 and 3. Flexible start and finish time. Work is done remotely with possible visits to the Centre in Newtown for meetings and/or training.


Duties and Tasks:


  • Undertake administrative tasks to assist the people we support to obtain financial support
  • Conduct strong followup of outstanding document requirements and ensure handover of pending tasks to Relief Administration volunteers the following day.
  • Use telephone interpreters and Google Translate to articulate relief requirements to clients with limited English capacity.
  • Review information and data to ensure compliance with both ASC and grant funding requirements.
  • Liaise and collaborate with various ASC departments when further information is required.

Selection Criteria

  • Experience in working with people from different backgrounds, cultures, religions and walks of life
  • Advanced computer skills, knowledge of Google Suite are highly desirable
  • Strong data entry and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate and organise resources
  • Ability to multitask, take initiative and work autonomously
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on extra tasks as appropriate
  • Ability to adhere to policies in relation to code of conduct, boundaries and confidentiality
  • Capacity to work and make phone calls from home in a private and safe environment
  • Speaking a second language is highly appreciated

  • Adhere to ASC's vision, purpose and values
  • Attend ASC Volunteer orientation, induction and training
  • Act at all times in accordance with ASC's Code of Conduct, Boundaries, Confidentiality and Child Protection Policies
  • Comply with Work, Health and Safety systems
  • Sign a volunteering from home (VFH) agreement and read our VFH guidelines.
  • Comply with Incident Management Procedures and emergency protocols
  • Demonstrate respectful and welcoming behaviour with all people at ASC in culturally appropriate ways
  • Undertake a NSW Working with Children Check prior to commencement and ensure it is uptodate
  • Support a childsafe organisation by undertaking screening for suitability to work with children and vulnerable people and to comply with relevant state/territory legislative requirements
