We are looking to recruit an experienced and accomplished Group Manager Procurement.

Reporting to the CEO, you will enhance the competitiveness of the Detmold Group through the development of cost-effective strategic supply sources for paper, board, coatings, and materials.

You will also drive targeted product and solution development with key global suppliers through a focus on deep relationship development whilst driving leading edge technological innovation in materials.


More specifically, you will:

  • Discover and develop new paper and board suppliers for the major grades purchased by the company with a focus on improving supply flexibility and reduced cost base
  • Improve scale with existing suppliers through targeted product development initiatives driven by sales and new product development needs
  • Uncover regular "deal flow" opportunities through intimate understanding of supplier's capabilities and capacity availability
  • Improve group cash position via supply arrangements which allow the company to minimise inventory holdings
  • Improve the company's customer responsiveness through the development of superior suppler lead times
  • Enhance the sustainability credentials of suppliers by aligning them with key global initiatives such as Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)
  • Manage supplier performance and their compliance globally for such aspects as forestry, sustainability, and food safety
  • Lead commercial negotiations with nominated suppliers
  • Drive improvements in connection with all key stakeholders including customers, sales, marketing, plant operations, estimating, supply chain and quality through data arrangement, analysis, and reporting
To be considered for this role, ideally you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in Procurement
  • General knowledge of economics and world events
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Solid stakeholder relationship skills with an ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships both internally and externally
  • Strong leadership coupled with a focus to drive and manage multiple projects at once
