About Our Opportunity


The Product Sourcing Specialist will work proactively with the Australian/ NZ and broader sales businesses to research customer specific and market relevant opportunities, translate these to range requirements, and support the business in sourcing and positioning these products to deliver sales growth, and increased market penetration, customer loyalty and revenue returns.

Provide the key source of technical and product knowledge to support sales in customer enquiries and sales conversion.


Your key responsibilities will be:


  • Provide the key interface between Detmold Sourcing and the Sales Companies to leverage group synergies to drive the improved performance and managerial efficiency of Detmold Sourcing.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively with sales to:
  • Understand market opportunities for range extension, rationalization and conversion.
  • Position the Sourced product range
  • Determine range relevance
  • Assess Sales opportunities,
  • Prioritise opportunities in terms of potential for success
  • Provide marketing materials to align product features with consumer trends
  • Undertake market and customer research to focus current sourcing and future trends
  • Draw on technical and commercial knowledge to qualify, prioritize opportunities and allocate sourcing requirements within the Detmold Sourcing team
  • Support in the procurement and development of products, including developing marketing resources and materials, leading to the conversion of sales
  • Review opportunities for improved logistics efficiency
  • Contribute to product development from initial concept, development, sourcing or marketing through to taking the lead role in new product introduction
  • Development of launch materials and strategies
  • Maintain the reports and registers and undertake range and category reviews as required.
  • Review and implementation of improved systems and processes, to deliver quality data, reporting efficiency and information management
  • Work as integral member of the Detmold Sourcing business and develop close relationships with teams in Hong Kong and Singapore, and associated suppliers as required
  • Develop collaborative relationships across the sales businesses
  • Ensure strong relationships with the Group Business units and key internal stakeholders to enable leverage of Detmold Sourcing through access to Group capability.

About You:


  • Qualification in marketing or a related discipline
  • Experience in sales environments, including leading in the conversion of sales
  • Clear credibility in customer relationship management
  • Technical knowledge of packaging products or clear ability to develop technical understanding of range properties
  • High level experience in marketing ranging from strategic review of market opportunities through to development of marketing materials and undertaking of range reviews
  • Ability to research, analyse and make recommendations from market and customer data
  • Ability to balance pragmatic solutions with the drive to introduce new / innovative ideas and solutions
  • Highly developed business engagement and communication skills with proven ability to establish credible relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • High levels of personal integrity, resilience and resourcefulness
  • Ability to prioritise, seek advice and manage multiple demands
  • Strong personal accountability matched with ability to integrate within team focused environment
  • High level of computer literacy, including excel, outlook, word, Power
- point, and other relevant programs


In addition, highly developed presentation skills will be extremely valuable when supplying proposals and quotes to customers as will your awareness of movements and developments within all industries, including competitors.

Demonstrated negotiation skills and the ability to provide innovative solutions in the marketplace will also be key to your success.
