About the role:
The Technology and Transformation Group (T&T) provides IT and project services for Momentum Energy (ME).

We focus on strategy execution and delivery of projects that build strategic & foundational business capabilities, as well as deliver major regulatory change.

The Head of Transformation Services is a critical leadership role that will:

  • Build trusted relationships across all levels and areas.
  • Provide people leadership for our Value Stream Leads.
  • Own and continually improve our value streams way of working and project delivery.
  • Bring maturity and step change to our Agile processes.
  • Provide portfolio governance and ensure, as a Government Business Entity, we adhere with required policies and procedures.


The Head of Transformation Services will partner with sponsors and help drive commercial and customer focussed outcomes which will guarantee delivery of our strategy.

As Head of Transformation Services you will be responsible for managing the capital portfolio pipeline and performance to agreed benefits, costs & quality standards.


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Be a strategic thought partner leading planning, ensuring alignment to business strategy, regulatory compliance, customer experience and effective use of technology to optimise processes.
  • Set the strategic direction of the Portfolio Management team and ensure that KPIs are clear with measurements in place.
  • Be the source of truth for all things Value Streams.
  • Bring maturity to our agile and delivery processes.
  • Provide people leadership for our Value Stream Leads.
  • Drive outstanding outcomes and gain commitment through developing, coaching, motivating, energising and inspiring the Portfolio team.
  • Manage the portfolio initiative pipeline, including supporting and guiding Initiative Owners through prioritisation and sequencing of initiatives.
  • Work with Business Initiative Owners and the delivery team to ensure optimal and efficient delivery.
  • Take accountability for managing the portfolio budget, ensuring accurate and punctual financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Review and validate business bcases including benefits, schedules, resourcing and assumptions.
  • This is a handson role with accountability to stakeholders across multiple divisions; the ability to influence, build strong relationships, be reliable and collaborate is a must.

About you and Your Experience:

  • Extensive experience in portfolio management and/or delivery.
  • Formal methodology qualifications e.g. PMBOK, Agile, etc.
  • Significant IT management experience in a program or portfolio related role.
  • Experience in facilitating outcomes in leading virtual teams.
  • Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking/communication and leadership.
  • Proven competency in project management and the execution of multiple or large projects in fluid and ambiguous environments leveraging system integrators and a multisource approach.
  • Strong Customer focus and be able to translate customer insights into decisionmaking.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate business priorities into project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver complex programs with proven cost control and resource management ability with a track record of delivery to budget and plan.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues at different levels of an organisation.
  • Successfully developed and embedded fit for purpose capability, processes or process improvements that meet the velocity, adaptability and quality required for the business to be competitive.
  • Demonstrated and working experience of implementing current & evolving delivery models (agile, digital implications on delivery)
  • Proven experience in financial modelling, including cost and benefit analysis and business case development.
