About the role

Reporting to the Care Manager, Care Assistants assist with the delivery and support of resident-centred direct care related to the activities of everyday living as per the residents' choices.


Your daily activities will include:

  • Feeding, showering, dressing and administering medications
  • Preparing meals and drinks
  • Tidying and cleaning, including sanitising activities
  • Engaging with family members to offer observations, instructions and updates
  • Assisting with mobility, providing transport to and from medical appointments
  • Providing social support, such as escorting resident's to activities within the facility and on outings and excursions
  • Following health and safety guidelines


Demonstration of a 'best practice' and holistic approach to the provision of care to residents of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and the ability to encourage their feedback is also required.

Adherence to LHG policies, procedures, guidelines and mandatory documentation to ensure compliance is another key responsibility in this role.

Collaborating in a positive and professional manner with family members, team members and other stakeholders will help to further achieve your success as an LHG Carer.

As someone with previous experience in the aged care industry, you are a kind, genuine and caring individual who is committed to providing a consistent, professional and effective level of support.

You are also respectful and passionate about caring for older people.


You are an upbeat and positive person, who is able to clearly communicate, and build genuine relationships with residents, the team and other staff and ensure a high level of dignity is maintained.

To be considered for this role, you MUST have the following relevant experience, skills, knowledge and qualifications:


Essential skills & competencies:


  • High motivation and passion to deliver quality care for persons in memory support units
  • Ability to work with a flexible and punctual approach in attendance and in all tasks
  • Have a high availability to fulfil shifts as required
  • Work with a 'customer service' focus
  • Be a team player
  • Good interpersonal and clear communication skills
  • Ability to closely follow processes and directives.

Experience and Qualifications:


  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care)
  • Completion of the accredited unit HLTHPS00
  • Assist clients with medication, highly desirable
  • Have the right to live and work in Australia
  • Current COVID19 and Flu vaccinations
  • Be prepared to undertake a preemployment medical and obtain a police clearance and/or NDIS Worker Check.
