What we do

  • Jewish Care Victoria, a notforprofit organisation, is the largest provider of aged and community services for the Jewish Community in Victoria. Services include Aged Residential Care, Assessment Referral and Individual Support Services, Community Aged Care, Disability, Mental Health, Youth and Family Services and Holocaust Survivors Programs.
    Jewish Care employs staff from all cultural and religious backgrounds and provides cultural and spiritual training in the Jewish Ethos.

About the role

  • Reporting to the Director: Donor & Community Services, the Volunteer Program Manager will play an integral role in developing and implementing strategies to strengthen and grow our volunteer programs so that we are able to achieve our organisational objectives and goals of delivering excellent care and support to our valued clients and customers.
  • The Volunteer Program Manager will be a strong advocate for volunteers and bring the "giving back to your community" into every conversation and decisionmaking process.
  • The Manager is responsible for developing and implementing initiatives and processes that maximise the utilisation of volunteers to ensure the highest quality of service. They will ensure that volunteers feel engaged and connected as part of the Jewish Care community.
  • We are looking for someone that has extensive experience leading and transforming volunteer programs, with a solid understanding of best practice and what it takes to be an organisation of choice for people who wish to volunteer their time.
  • This role will be permanent part time (equivalent to 4 days per week) and will be based at our head office at 619 St Kilda Road where you will be be supported by a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator.
    Responsibilities of the role
  • Lead the identification, implementation and monitoring of effective and innovative people strategies and initiatives that build the capacity, engagement and effectiveness of the volunteer program, and promote a positive culture of volunteering across Jewish Care Victoria.
  • Lead to development, implementation and monitoring of volunteer related policies, procedures and practices that promote the organisations desired culture and aligns to legislative requirements and the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement.
  • Prepare routine and adhoc reports to inform the development of people strategies and initiatives that achieve a meaningful impact on volunteer performance and engagement, as well as promotes the performance of the volunteer program.

What you will bring

  • Previous leadership experience working within the notforprofit sector and leading a volunteer program with a significant volunteer base is essential.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work/Welfare/Human Resources Management (or similar).
  • Previous experience leading and implementing strategies to build the capacity, engagement and effectiveness of a volunteer program, as well as promote a positive culture of volunteering.
  • Expert knowledge of volunteer management related legislation and practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an empathetic and engaging leadership style.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the Jewish culture and community, or willingness to develop understanding
