GHD Geotechnical business group, our connected global network of pavement engineering professionals undertakes investigation, analysis, design and documentation services for the construction, rehabilitation and strengthening of pavements.

Our services cover pavements for airfields, local roads, major freeways, highways, mine access, heavy industrial and haul roads.

You would be based in our
Perth office in Western Australia, and we would be able to provide a balance of technical work and project delivery for our valued clients.

At GHD, we can provide multiple opportunities to work across a broad portfolio of projects.

Pavement Engineers

Depending on your experience level and skillset, you may be involved in:

  • Planning the design, documentation and delivery of new and existing airport upgrades, metropolitan and regional roads projects and heavy-duty pavements for mining and ports
  • Undertaking interpretation and analysis of data to develop and implement practical and commercial solutions
  • Client interaction through pursuit, tendering and delivery phases of projects, along with great opportunities to take on business development tasks in our relationshiporiented business
  • Supporting project delivery teams with earthworks, pavement and surfacing requirements
  • Undertaking pavement designs utilising Austroads and Civil Aviation Safety Authority design standards
  • The execution of materials and pavement investigations
  • Undertake material suitability assessments, providing innovative and sustainable alternatives
  • Guidance and review of the outputs of less experienced team members
  • Management of the pavement design process involving multiple disciplines for all size projects

What you will bring to the team:

  • Qualification in civil engineering or related discipline, ideally with post graduate studies in pavement engineering
  • A strong geotechnical background, thorough understanding of materials, with the ability to design bituminous surfacing (knowledge of bituminous and cementitious stabilisation and sustainable use of materials)
  • High level of technical knowledge in the delivery of transportation infrastructure projects
  • Exposure in pavement design, material selection and investigation
  • Familiarity with relevant laboratory testing methods
  • Familiarity with asphalt, concrete and stabilisation mixture design procedures
  • An ability to write clear, concise letters, technical reports and specifications
  • Strong commercial acumen, report writing with excellent problemsolving capability in order to provide superior results for our clients
  • Good understanding of flexible and rigid pavement investigation and designs
