Melbourne Private Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated CSSD Manager to join the Sterilising Services Team.

An ability to liaise with all members of the healthcare team, including medical, clinical and non-clinical staff is vital. A positive attitude, flexibility and proven excellent interpersonal skills are essential. The successful applicant must be able to respond effectively in a growing and dynamic clinical environment.


As a key member of the team, you will work under the direction and collaboratively with the Perioperative Manager with responsibility for the day to day operational direction of the department.

You will collaborate to coordinate the daily delivery of exceptional service that is evidence based and of a high standard consistent with AS/NZS , infection control guidelines and the Healthscope Policies.

Melbourne Private Hospital is a fully accredited tertiary facility with 122 beds, providing intensive care and cardiac services.

The hospital has 4 theatres and 2 cath labs, which offer a board range of specialities including cardiac, neurosurgery, robotics, plastics, orthopaedics, urology, laparoscopic, colorectal, vascular and general surgery as well as neurosurgery.

Specialised wards include 1 cardiac, 1 neurosurgery/vascular/orthopaedic wards, as well as a general ward. Melbourne Private Hospital also has a day procedure and chemotherapy ward.


As the CSSD Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Over-seeing a high standard of evidence based Sterilization services to the operating theatre and other clinical departments within the hospital
  • As the CSSD Manager you will adhere to Australian College of Operating Room Nurses (ACORN) standards and plan, assess, implement and evaluate the cleaning, sterilization and packing of hospital instruments
  • Provide clinical leadership providing direction, support, supervision, teaching and specific clinical specialty direction for CSSD Technicians

Essential Criteria:


  • Certificate IV in Sterilisation/Training and Assessment
(preferred)

  • Extensive experience in Theatre
  • Current or recent experience as Senior Instrument Technician in a management role
  • Sound knowledge of accreditation standards ACHS/AS/NZ 4187 Standards and HICMR
  • Consultative leadership style and sound negotiation skills are vital
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
  • An interest in promoting best practice patient care and strong sense of customer service
  • A focus on professional development
