An exciting opportunity exists to join the Western Public Health Unit as a Public Health Officer (PHO). Full or part time until 30 June 2023.

The Public Health Officer will be responsible for helping prevent, investigate and manage outbreaks of communicable disease in the community.

Working closely with the Team Lead, the PHO will conduct interviews, identify high risk groups and provide public health recommendations.

The Western Public Health Unit has been established to strengthen the public health response to infectious diseases and other health issues.

The Unit is part of a system of three metropolitan Public Health Units, Western (WPHU), North-eastern (NEPHU), South-eastern (SEPHU) and six regional Public Health Units providing a state-wide system of public health delivery and oversight.

About You

Current registration with AHPRA as a registered health professional with no practicing restrictions or eligibility for membership of the relevant professional; or relevant tertiary qualification with industry experience.

Experience working in Public Health, Community Health or Primary Care
High levels of technology literacy with ability to learn and master online data reporting tool(s)
Able to work a seven day rotating roster
Participate in WPHU's afterhours on call roster
