Destec is a diversified mining contractor with a fast-growing client base, providing ore crushing, screening and materials handling to the mining industry.

We take pride in innovation through designing, constructing, building, maintaining and operating our own crushing and screening plants for Tier 1 mining sites.

Additionally, we provide ore processing and materials handling services to the mining industry across Western Australia.


About the role:


The Driller's Offsider / Trainee Driller will be required to assist with drilling operations as per the drilling program set by the Project Manager and the Senior Driller to provide exploration drilling services to the Project's Team in remote locations.


This work will include but not limited to:

  • Predominately Diamond Drilling but may at a later date include some RC Drilling.
  • Carry out prestart checks to ensure the machine is safe to operate before every shift.
  • Operate ancillary equipment including setting up and dismantling
  • Perform processing of formations samples as well as cores including collection, laying out, packing and dispatching.

To be successful in this role you will require the following:

  • Proven previous experience working as a Drillers Offsider
  • High level of physical fitness
  • Function as a team player at all times.
  • Sound knowledge of mining and exploration procedures
  • Previous experience in a FIFO role
  • Australian "HR" class drivers' licence
  • Hold an Enter Confined Space Qualification
  • Hold a Working at Heights Qualification
  • Hold a Gas Test Atmospheres Qualification
  • National Police Clearance

Desirable skills & qualifications:


  • Cert II, III, Drilling certificates


  • High Risk

  • Intermediate Rigging Ticket
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Loader, Skid steer, Watercart, Telehandler, Franna operation competencies
