The palliative care department at Barwon Health is a dynamic service, delivering multi-disciplinary palliative care across inpatient, outpatient and home based settings.

The department has established a reputation for comprehensively supporting registrars at all stages of training with formalised teaching and day to day clinical support.

Our friendly and supportive department currently employ four palliative care registrars per semester who work alongside four consultants.

The registrars/consultants work across four domains namely inpatient palliative care unit, acute consultancy service at University Hospital Geelong, Barwon Health community palliative care and sub-regional community palliative care.


About the Role


An exciting opportunity exists for a General Practitioner Registrar interested in undertaking an Advanced Skills Training post in palliative care to join the Barwon Health palliative care service in 2024.

The service is dynamic, innovative, integrated and multidisciplinary and provides care across a range of inpatient and community settings.


The successful applicant will join three existing palliative care registrars and five consultants in providing palliative medical care to the people of Geelong and surroundings.

The position will be for 12 months and be divided between the palliative care unit (six months) and the community palliative care team (six months).

There is an on-call requirement associated with the position of one in week in four.
