We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Finance Analyst to join our Aviation Commercial & Finance team to provide support to Finance Business Partner (FBP) in all aspects of budgeting, financial planning, analysis and reporting.

With the aviation and travel sector booming as we head into 2023, on top of major projects that will underpin the future growth and development of Melbourne Airport and Victoria as a whole, now is a very exciting time to join


Key responsibilities:

The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in the preparation and reporting of the annual budgets and forecasts for the Aviation portfolio, including the identification of cost and revenue drivers as well as savings initiatives
  • Scenario analysis to provide a range of outcomes depending on initiatives and key assumptions
  • Assist with maintaining the rolling forecast processes for current and outer financial years, including capturing Risks and Opportunities
  • Complete P&L monthend processes and reporting, including expense and revenue reviews and variance analysis

Monthly Reporting

  • Support the month end process for Aviation, with timelines and processes clearly understood within the Aviation business
  • Compile monthly reconciliations supporting Airline incentive contributions
  • Manage Aviation departmental P&L reporting; interacting with the business to ensure cost trends are understood & risks and opportunities are articulated
  • Provide ongoing support to the Aviation Business Unit on transactional processes within the finance system (Dynamics 365) to ensure costs and revenue are recognised accurately and in a timely manner

Security Recoveries

  • Produce quarterly and annual security reporting for airlines, detailing and commentating on performance against budget and KPIs
  • Respond to external ad hoc commercial queries, including evaluating scenarios to drive cost reductions

Aviation Commercial Support

  • Provide analytical and commercial support to the Aviation Commercial team on ad hoc requests relating to financials or new capital investments
  • Support the Aviation Commercial team with the development and production of any financial modelling or reporting on ASA forecasts or performance
  • Provide analysis, insight and commentary on forward forecasts, calling out risks of under performance against commercial KPIs
  • Support the Financial Business Partner with development and ongoing management of Aviation's divisional reporting
  • Support the Aviation Commercial team with annual price resets
  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce or similar.
  • Proven experience supporting a distinct business unit in a corporate finance environment.
  • 35 years post qualification experience
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to stakeholders
  • Highly analytical and technically competent
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Able to grasp new concepts quickly and with ease
  • Ability to work independently in a fastpaced environment
  • Strong financial acumen, commercially focused
