About the role


Due to an exciting stage of growth within the Operational Technology team, we are seeking a
Technical Advisor - Instrumentation & Control to provide engineering technical support for delivery of capital projects and to support operations and maintenance groups to optimize the performance and life of Water Corporation's existing assets.


Working as part of the Acquisitions Project Delivery team, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver an operational and fully functional asset to the Project Manager for hand-over, whilst ensuring quality requirements are met including evaluation of compliance with standards, design specifications, contract conditions, and operational effectiveness requirements.

About you:

There are a few things that we'll look for in your CV;

  • Trade Certificate or postsecondary qualification in a relevant field including Electrical Worker's Licence endorsed "Electrical Licence" or "Restricted Electrical Licence"
  • Substantial trade experience in construction, commissioning, and maintenance support of equipment and systems in the water or process industries, ideally within OT environments
  • Considerable experience in a supervisory role in installation and commissioning
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices relating to commissioning of OT, instrumentation and control systems, CISCO network and communication equipment
  • Full C Class Drivers Licence along with ability to complete statewide travel

What the role will involve

  • Delivery of communication technology upgrade projects
  • Review designs and tender documents and provide comments in terms of constructability, operability, and maintainability of assets
  • Carry out inspection and testing at manufacturers' premises and on construction sites, witnessing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) precommissioning, commissioning, and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
  • Prepare progress, inspection and testing plans and reports and review operational and maintenance planning specifications to optimise asset performance and reduce whole of life costs
  • Review, modify and approve "as constructed' designs and develops and facilitate comprehensive construction inspection and asset testing procedures and schedules.
  • Review, analyse and report on contractor claims and variations in relation to work undertaken
  • Provide specialist technical advice and guidance on the analysis of faults, failures and suboptimal asset performance and facilitate costeffective remedial action
  • Provide coaching and support to new contractors in adopting Water Corporation processes and policies for works onsite
