The Finance Systems team reports into ITD. We are the conduit between Corporate Finance and ITD.

Finance Systems is described as the provision of, support to, and continuous improvement of finance systems and finance performance tools.


Finance Systems responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, implement, maintain and make robust, the Department's finance systems and performance tools, in partnership with Corporate Finance.
  • Provide functional knowledge support for those systems.
  • Provide governance around finance systems and finance master data.
  • Create appropriate feedback channels to assess service delivery.

About the role


The role is primarily responsible for supporting the Manager by leading and coordinating daily operations and providing expert advice and support for the delivery of financial systems that meets the needs of the Department, its customers and key stakeholders.

The role may lead projects to deliver accurate, reliable and focused results that meet stakeholder expectations and the Directorate's service delivery standards.


The role will further entail:

  • Maintaining governance and integrity of systems and associated data that supports the financial reporting process
  • Supporting senior manager in the implementation of innovative solutions to achieve continuous improvements in corporate financial programs, process and service delivery
  • Support the Finance Systems team with Finance Projects
  • Assist with the analysis of proposals for system enhancements or changes

Essential requirements of the role

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting and/or information systems management or in a related discipline and eligibility for membership to a recognised professional accounting body or equivalent relevant workplace experience

Key knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Solid experience in stakeholder management skill, including the ability to work collaboratively and influence a wide range of stakeholders across varying levels.
