The Opportunity:

This opportunity is being offered a 12 month non-ongoing opportunity or a permanent transfer for existing APS employees.

Your manager is a down to earth person who is there to provide support when needed but also creates a culture where everyone enjoys coming to work.

You will be responsible for leading the treasury function and have 3 direct reports (APS5 and two APS6s).

Mentorship is available to further develop your career and given the size of the department there will be opportunity to move across different teams.


The Role:

You will be responsible for leading, developing a mentoring a team responsible for the treasury function which includes:

  • Daily, monthly and annual processing functions such as payment runs, receipting, drawdowns and sweeps
  • Appropriation and cash reconciliations
  • Quality assurance and submission of National Partnership Payments
  • Preparation of cash forecasting
  • Preparation of appropriation notes for financial statements
  • Management of the department's banking contracts and authorities
You will also be required to liaise with external auditors regarding interim and final audit requests.


The Ideal Person:

You will be a high performing Accountant with CA/CPA qualification.

Whilst demonstrated experience in the treasury function within government would be highly desirable, you could also be someone who consults into government from Big4 or a mid-tier firm or you could also be an external auditor looking to make the transition to the other side of the desk.

You will be known for your analytical skills and as well your ability to be a forward thinker who has strong written and verbal communication skills.

You are likely the go to person in your organisations to provide solutions to problems that arise or look at processes to see if any efficiencies can be gained.


Salary / Rate:

$115k - $125k + 15.4% Super
