This position will play a pivotal role in the maintenance of a safe work environment, by effectively using a range of HSEQ tools and processes to implement HSEQ programs; and drive compliance and a positive HSE culture across out Eastern States operations.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and communication of the HSEQ Strategic and Tactical Plans and implementation of actions to achieve strategic directives
  • Train and advise Operations on the value of prompt reporting and actioning of hazards and incidents
  • Lead, train and mentor HSEQ Advisors (East)
  • Support management and worker awareness of HSEQ responsibilities and accountabilities
  • Train Operations team in HSE programs and the use of HSE tools e.g. risk assessments, Permit to Work
  • Participate in hazard identification, workplace inspection, Job Safety Analyses and Critical Risk Management processes
  • Participate in the development and review of procedures and safe work procedures in conjunction with Operations.
  • Assist with development of and contribution to implementation of activities to prevent workplace fatality, injury, disease and ill health
  • Review compliance with workplace policies and procedures including conducting workplace internal audits and supporting external audits as required
  • Facilitate and participate in incident and emergency preparedness and response
  • Lead critical incident investigations and participate in other investigations, as required; and generate HSE Alerts and Learnings
  • Liaise with relevant authorities regarding HSE and complete regulatory reporting, as required
  • Provide HSE content for HSE forums including Toolbox Meetings, HSE Meetings and Operations Meetings

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary HSE qualification (e.g. OSH Diploma/Advanced Diploma (VET))
  • AIHS Membership (Desirable)
  • 710 years HSEQ experience + 5 years management experience with direct reports
  • Experience in Transport & Logistics or similar industry
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Critical thinking and problemsolving skills
  • In depth understanding of Road transportation industry and HSE legislation
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001
