Grade 1 Dietitian (position suitable for recent graduates)

  • Fixed term, Full time, 40 hrs per week (includes ADO)
  • Work allocation: subacute inpatient wards, endocrinology clinics
  • Located at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital
  • Pay range Grade 1 (AI1-AI7) $ $44.84 per hour + salary packaging + super.
  • Contract dates: available for immediate start, end date 2 February 2024

About the Nutrition and Dietetics Department
Our department is a vibrant and fast-paced environment with a team of 42 staff (34 EFT) across three sites. We function as one department and work in a supportive and friendly environment. We provide service to inpatients, outpatients and home/community programs, spanning acute care, sub-acute care and rehabilitation.


Our Dietitians are experts in medical nutrition therapy across a range of clinical specialties and are organised into clinical streams: specialist medicine, ICU/surgical/gastro, oncology, paediatrics and mental health, sub-acute & rehab.

Other key activities include staff education and development, student training, quality improvement, research and food service.


Details of position
This position has become vacant due to internal staff movement and is available for an immediate start.

The position is based at the Heidelberg Repatriation site and will work as part of our Subacute and Ambulatory streams under the direction of the Senior Clinician stream leaders.

This position includes services to inpatient general rehabilitation wards and outpatient endocrinology clinics. This workload provides an opportunity to work within two dynamic multidisciplinary teams. Workload allocation may vary according to operational needs across these streams and the department.


About you

You will have:

  • Ideally some experience working in clinical inpatient dietetics.
  • Interest and /or experience in working with outpatients.
  • Good organisational skills, efficient workload management and ability to prioritise.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective counselling skills and commitment to patientcentred care.
  • A sound understanding of information technology including clinical systems.
