Our ideal Swimming Instructor
We believe that a great swimming instructor is not about being the best swimmer.

A great swimming instructor is someone who is able to build rapport, trust and a relationship with the patrons who come to us to learn a lifesaving skill.

We are looking for motivated individuals who have a passion for teaching and fostering confidence in children and adults, and are able to create a safe learning environment.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A level of understanding of basic swimming strokes and styles
  • A willingness to have an adaptable and engaging teaching style
  • A CPR Certificate prior to commencement
  • A nationally recognized Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Qualification

Why should I choose to be a swimming instructor at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre?
Instead of hearing it from us, here's what our instructors have to say:

  • "Swimming is a passion of mine so I was very attracted to being an instructor to share my love for it. I love seeing the smiles on the individuals faces when they master a skill, and seeing their loved ones light up with them is so rewarding. This role has taught me about communication and patience which are such important skills for my future in nursing."
  • Swim Instructor, 1.5 years
- "As a migrant, being able to teach swimming allowed me to continue working in the Physical Education field. I like to work with people and see their progress and confidence grow. This has also given me the opportunity to improve my English while teaching others the benefits of learning how to swim."
  • Swim Instructor, 7 years
- "I love being a swimming instructor as I get to watch children grow and develop lifelong skills. Initially I thought it would be a great way to stay fit and work at the same time, but it is so much more rewarding than that. I've been able to use many of the skills I have learnt at university in this role, but also see this as a good career step to move into community and parenting groups and at an extension, helping children"
  • Swimming Instructor, 2 years
