About the Role

An opportunity has arisen for a results driven Analyst/Senior Analyst to join a high performing risk data analytics team at a leading domestic bank going through an exciting phase of growth and strategic transformation.

Your role will be to provide data solutions supporting the analytical needs for the Market Risk, Models and Insights team as well as the broader Group Risk function.


You will be responsible for the development, maintenance and operational support of the credit and market risk data environment - managing, evolving and optimising monthly processes which provide downstream data consumers with the ability to deliver timely and accurate portfolio analytics and insights to Senior Executive Management.

You will also help to uplift data risk management and governance through the documentation, implementation, monitoring and validation of data consumed by the wider team.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Responsible for the development, maintenance and support of the Risk data environment. This includes the transformation and consolidation of data sets for evolving analytics requirements.
  • Support the business in their understanding of their risk profiles, enabling ad hoc and deepdive analyses and dashboarding to facilitate strategic business decisions.
  • Provide analytical insight to help drive the longer term strategic data solution for BOQ group;
  • Interface with other parts of the team and wider business to assist with the development of data requirements, then support the scope, delivery and testing of all change requests;
  • Refine data governance standards and ensure stakeholders are adhering to data change management frameworks;
  • Maintain the technical data mapping from source to target including transformation rules;
  • Formalise and implement data verification and testing methods for the data environment;
  • Contribute to database process improvements, best practices and standards.

About you

For this role we are looking for a broad range of skills - data management experience or equivalent academic background, complemented by strong stakeholder management skills.

You will facilitate a more strategic use of data in Group Risk by helping to identify how data can add business value to the core functions of the broader team, and provide data management solutions that can capture these benefits.


This includes enhancements to automation processes, accuracy and definitional consistency of existing Group Risk data, as well as the identification, system design and provision of new data sources that will further uplift the quality of risk insights provided by the team.


Skills Required:


  • Experience in relevant programming languages (SQL, SAS, R, Python, VBA, etc).
  • Risk data lineage, architecture and infrastructure design;
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management experience;
  • Experience in database development and process enhancement;
  • Experience maintaining sound data control standards and frameworks;
  • Experience in banking and credit products (desirable);
  • Experience in version control system (Git, etc) and Unix environment (desirable).
