ABOUT THE BRANCH


The Parliamentary Business Resource (PBR) Framework Branch in the Ministerial and Parliamentary Services Division (MaPS), provides advice and support services on a range of matters pertaining to Parliamentarians' work expenses in accordance with federal legislation.

These include but are not limited to, property and facilities management and administration of work expenses.


PBR has a presence in the Commonwealth Parliament Offices (CPO) in each state and territory capital and manages the provision of services at these facilities.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**The Assistant State Manager works within a small team based in the Perth Commonwealth Parliament Offices (CPO). The role supports the State Manager Western Australia to manage the state office team and workload, providing a range of client focused services and support within the Parliamentary Business Resource Framework, for current and former Parliamentarians and _Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984_ (Commonwealth) employees.


The role involves assisting to manage the running of the Perth CPO which provides accommodation and facilities for tenants, Ministers and visiting Parliamentarians and their staff, including coordinating high level events for other agencies.

The role also supports the State Manager in the oversight and property management of electorate offices throughout Western Australia.

The key duties of this role are:

  • Representing MaPS in meetings with key stakeholders including Members of Parliament and their employees
- supporting the team in the day to day running of the MaPS office and the CPO, with the capacity to triage tasks and manage conflicting priorities.
- coordinating visitor management for the CPO.

  • Liaise with ministerial offices and visiting parliamentarian's regarding CPO issues
- managing electorate office accommodation projects, including relocations, new fitouts and refurbishments
- providing information within tight timeframes and prepare written reports and Ministerial Submissions
- leading a range of procurements in line with the Commonwealth Procurement Rules.
- checking, approving and processing payment of accounts for work expenses within the parameters of the _Parliamentary Business Resources Act 2017_, and assisting with reporting requirements
- performing ad hoc tasks as directed.
