About FinTech Australia


FinTech Australia is a national not-for-profit organisation with a vision to make Australia the number one market for FinTech in Asia.


Founded in October 2015, our membership base comprises over 250 startups, venture capital funds, hubs and accelerators across Australia that specialise in FinTech.

We have seven committee members based in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane.


Our key objectives are to support the Australian FinTech community, build awareness and trust in FinTech startups and to advocate for better policy on behalf of our members.


About the role


Fintech Australia requires a community-oriented General Manager with strong industry connections who will provide the leadership to make the organisation's vision a success.

The individual will drive all day-to-day operational and implementation of all strategic objectives and activities.

Specifically you will be responsible for:

Operations and Financial Management

  • Ensuring operational and financial viability of the organisation, ensuring transparency and effective regular reporting to the Board
  • Responsibility for ongoing financial management, including oversight of bookkeeping, daily management of accounts receivable and payable
  • Management of staff and contractor deliverables, ensuring effective and high performing team.
  • Close collaboration with and strategic support of Policy & Comms lead
  • Establishing satellite teams and partners around the execution of key initiatives.

Strategy Implementation

  • Working closely with the Board to establish core goals, objectives and KPIs, and effective implementation of strategic initiatives
  • Oversight of public relations, including public speaking, digital media, advocating and representing the FinTech community
  • Working alongside the Chair as voice of Fintech Australia and acting as spokesperson where appropriate.

Member, Sponsor and Key Stakeholder Engagement

  • Growing the FinTech Australia community, through startups, partners, sponsors and other stakeholders
  • Share initiatives and plans with the broader FinTech startup community
  • Maintaining Fintech Australia's network of business, investor, university and Government partners here and abroad to support development and growth of the community
  • Community engagement through events, research collaborations, member resources and online platforms
  • Corporate stakeholder relations and fundraising to raise sufficient funds to support and manage the organisation

KPIs and Bonus Structure
Key KPIs for each of the above key deliverables will be established in discussion with the GM and Board/Chair.

These KPIs will include both a baseline target to ensure effective undertaking of the role, and will be assessed at both three and six months into the role.

Stretch targets will also be outlined with any potential associated bonus structure.

These KPIs will be agreed in a separate document.


Reporting Relationships


This role reports directly to the Board of Fintech Australia, with the main point of contact being the Chair unless otherwise agreed as it relates to key initiatives.

All staff and contractors ultimately report to the GM of Fintech Australia directly, unless otherwise discussed.


Location


The role of GM may be based anywhere within Australia, however, regular interstate travel will be required for committee meetings, meetings with government, corporate and community stakeholders and events.


Experience / knowledge / skills required

  • Management, financial and strategic experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fundraising through corporate sponsorship
  • Public speaking
  • Genuine passion for the FinTech sector
  • Have worked in or closely with one or more startups

Salary:
$150, $170,000.00 per year
