The Role

Key duties at the
ASD5 level include:

  • Interpret requirements and execute tests, analysing and documenting results.
  • Develop test cases and supporting data using provided user stories, UX designs and other sources of information.
  • Execute tests to analyse behaviour, functionality and integrity of systems or software.
  • Identify and raise defects as per project team standards when conducting testing.
  • Build and sustain effective working relationships with team members.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders and understand their expectations and concerns.
  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of the test environment in accordance with established plans and procedures.
Key duties at the


ASD6 level include:


  • Test team leadership including planning and coordinating testing activities and managing testing resources.
  • Creation and maintenance of test suites, ensuring traceability between test cases and requirements.
  • Management and triage of defects, working closely with the delivery team to progress defect resolutions.
  • Provide reports on testing progress, risks and issues along with potential mitigations.
  • Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
  • Coordination and management of UAT working closely with customers and stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Contribute to building a quality focused culture, providing advice on test coverage and ways to improve testing processes.

About our Team
Mission Data Division within ASD is responsible for providing the foundational data capabilities to support all of ASD's functions.

We do this via the provision of data platforms and services, management of ASD's mission data and providing complex analytic development and support, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities.

All roles within MD require extensive knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policies requirements.


The Software Testers will work as part of a team of UX Designers and Business Analysts within a larger agile multi-disciplinary capability delivery team.
