The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

The Team


The Enterprise Transformation Group, made up of the Chief Information Officer Division and the Enterprise Strategy and Transformation Division, has been established to drive the AEC's transformation agenda, and to deliver the Election Systems Modernisation Program (Indigo Program) on behalf of the Agency.


The Enterprise Strategy and Transformation Division is made up of the Indigo Program Management Office Branch, the Indigo Product and Design Branch, and the Enterprise Transformation Branch, all of which have a shared objective of delivering effective governance for the Indigo Program, and for leading and supporting the AEC's transformation more broadly.


The Opportunities


As the Indigo Program moves into its second Tranche, The Enterprise Strategy and Transformation Division is seeking to fill critically important roles by engaging capable, committed and creative professionals who are seeking rewarding growth and leadership opportunities.


Assistant Director, Enterprise Transformation and Portfolio Management Office (ETPMO)


The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the Director in the delivery of the objective of the Enterprise Transformation and Portfolio Management Office.


As an experienced strategic planning and/or investment portfolio management professional the Assistant Director will lead the ETPMO's work on either transformation strategy, investment strategy and planning, or transformation and investment delivery oversight, and collaborate with team members across these areas, within a fast paced and dynamic environment.


The Assistant Director will also collaborate with the team to mature the AEC's transformation and investment framework and build organisational transformation and investment portfolio management capability.

This includes providing support to APS staff to ensure high quality outputs, build their capability, and encourage career development.


The Assistant Director will be a key point of contact with internal stakeholders and will have excellent relationship management skills, forming and maintaining positive working relationships across the AEC.


Assistant Director, Indigo Governance & Assurance


The Assistant Director, Indigo Governance & Assurance will work with the Director of the Section to undertake a range of activities to support the effective and efficient functioning of the Indigo Program.

The role will require you to prepare and review governance and program documents, undertake analysis and provide timely advice to Program and Senior Executive across the Program.


The Assistant Director, Indigo Governance & Assurance will have excellent relationship management skills, forming and maintaining positive working relationships across the Enterprise Transformation Group and the agency.


Assistant Director, Reporting


As the Assistant Director, Reporting, you will work with the Director of the Program Planning and Reporting section to develop and deliver program artefacts to enable executive visibility of Program progress against key deliverables and to support their decision making.

You will support and oversee the development of schedules, plans and timeline/critical path monitoring, including dependency and resource mapping.

Working across the program, this will include maintaining and evaluating progress, identifying risks and developing intervention procedures or mitigation measures where required.


The role requires strong stakeholder engagement skills, including with senior and executive stakeholders, forming and maintaining positive and supportive working relationships across the Enterprise Transformation Group and the agency.


Assistant Director, SMT Coordination


Providing high level support to the Assistant Commissioner and Directors, this will include leading and managing a small team in the provision of a range of co-ordination activities.

This will require preparation and review of high-level documentation, analysis and advice.

The role will work closely with the Indigo and Enterprise Transformation Group leadership teams to ensure that work tasks are of high quality and completed on time.

This role will also involve facilitating strategic activities for the Program, requiring engagement with internal stakeholders.
