Overview:

  • Contributes to the achievement of organisational objectives and outcomes designed to control the occurrence of communicable disease in South Australia.
  • Responsible for the collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of communicable disease surveillance data.
  • As part of a multidisciplinary team, participate in investigations of communicable disease outbreaks and subsequent control activities.
  • Provide health information and advice to members of the public, health professionals, government agencies and special interest groups on communicable diseases, immunisation, and the principles of food hygiene and infection control.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving 'Unsupervised Contact with Vulnerable Groups' is required for this position (E.g. aged care employment or work involving vulnerable clients)

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)


SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.


Special Conditions
- _Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate._

  • Appropriate Degree in Science.
  • The incumbent will be required to participate in an afterhours oncall roster; some outofhours work will be required.
  • Intrastate/interstate travel may be required.
