Why this role matters:


The Humanities Network Infrastructure (HuNI — pronounced "honey") is an online network of cultural information constructed by Australian and Canadian researchers over the last ten years, and containing more than 17 million records drawn from research project outputs and from the Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAM) sector.

HuNI is overseen by an international steering committee.

HuNI ) enables researchers to search, collect and actively create conceptual links between archival records.

HuNI is designed to support the nonlinear and recursive research methods practised in the humanities and creative arts, especially research that relies on complexity, contestation and connection.

The position reports to the UNSW Line Manager and HuNI Steering Committee member, Professor Stephen Loo.


Accountabilities:


  • Liaise with and undertake technical tasks for the HuNI Steering Committee including technical assistance at HuNI Steering Committee meetings, HuNI workshops and hackevents for UNSW staff, students, other stakeholders and target audiences.
  • Review and update online content on the HuNI website.
  • Identify and support UNSW researchers and research projects which will benefit from HuNI.
  • Assist the Steering Committee to coordinate the ingestion (data import) of collections to HuNI.
  • Facilitate interactions with UNSW research laboratories and centres including EPICentre, 3D Visualisation and Simulation Lab, and Centre for Social Robotics.
  • Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.

Skills and Experience:

To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience.
  • An understanding of "collections as data" in humanities research and the GLAM sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience of Knowledge Graphs.
  • Knowledge and skill to validate and ingest data through appropriately formatted CSV files.
  • Sound Web Design, Interaction and Graphic Design skills.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
